Genasys is a leading critical communications systems and solutions provider that has recently landed a project with the Canadian government, to test a contact tracking software for COVID-19 cases and vaccinations. The project will be executed through its Canadian Subsidiary and will leverage its Genasys Emergency Management (GEM) platform that provides automated events, situational awareness, and geofencing. In addition, the project involves two-way alerts and responses over email, SMS, callouts, VoIP, pop-ups, and mobile applications and integration with land mobile radio, gunshot detection, panic buttons, and government agency alerting.
The Company was chosen after careful consideration of over 500 proposals, and is a validation of Genasys Management Platform, that is an amalgamation of software, hardware, and geo-data analytics that enable security for IoT and send timely and targeted alerts to at-risk entities through multiple channels. In February 2021, the Company was awarded a four-year contract by the Spain Ministry of the Interior (MOI), for its National Emergency Management System (NEWS), which gives further leeway for Genasys to strengthen its software service in Spain and the European Union.
In addition, the Company also provides a National Emergency Management System (NEWS) that can be directly installed on mobile carrier networks and sends alerts in critical situations, without any opt-in required. Furthermore, the Genasys Integrated Mass Notification system integrates speaker arrays with location-based messaging to deliver a multi-channel alerting solution. Genesys Workforce Management (GWM) enables real-time employee management, planning, and monitoring and helps in reducing operational costs and improving employee productivity.
The Company recorded record bookings of $12.2 million in Q1 2021, growing at a CAGR of 25.5% from 2016 to 2020. Genasys is expecting record bookings for in Q2 2021 as well and is hopeful of rebounding from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its operations. Genasys has received orders worth over $14.2 million in 2020 and is expecting another $110 million in additional orders from the U.S Military, besides focusing on law enforcement and defense funding opportunities.
Genasys pioneered the Long-Range Acoustic Devices (LRADs), which is the leader in acoustic hailing devices (AHD) and caters to a wide range of industries, including defense and law enforcement agencies. The Company is currently providing its services in Australia and is competing for PWS contracts in 25 countries. It is hopeful of being awarded many more such contracts as public warning systems are required in all EU Member States by June 2022, as mandated by the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) Article 110. The Company recently announced that the new OPPO Find X3 series phones – the Find X3 and Find X3 Pro, incorporated the Company’s patented high-efficiency color calibration and flesh tone management technology. The Company has signed a multi-year collaboration agreement with TCL for incorporating Pixelworks display into future smartphones models across diverse price points. Iris mobile display processors, the Company’s solution for mobile HDR, blur-free sports, vibrant colors and deep contrast, addresses the needs of the smartphones and tablets market.
In addition, the Company’s Projector display processing solutions find a place in leading OEMs projectors for education, business, and consumer applications. As per the Company’s Q4,2020 financial results, mobile revenues grew by 18 percent to $9.6 million, from $8.2 million in Q3,2020, owing to rising demand from Smartphone OEMs. However, its full year revenue was $40.9 million compared to full year revenue of $68.8 million in 2019, the decline was primarily due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on its operations. Pixelworks believes that its current pipeline of mobile programs will enable it to double the number of models that incorporate its technology in 2021. Pixelworks cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments stood at $31.5 million at the end of Q4,2020, compared to $16.8 million at the end of Q3,2020.
